About City

Mexico City, or the City of Mexico (Spanish: Ciudad de México), is the capital and most populous city of Mexico. As an “alpha” global city, Mexico City is one of the most important financial centers in the Americas. It is located in the Valley of Mexico (Valle de México), a large valley in the high plateaus at the center of Mexico, at an altitude of 2,240 metres (7,350 ft). The city consists of sixteen municipalities (previously called boroughs).

According to the most recent definition agreed upon by the federal and state governments, the Greater Mexico City population is 21.2 million people, making it the largest metropolitan area of the world’s western hemisphere and both the tenth-largest agglomeration and largest Spanish-speaking city in the world This is truly one of the most interesting and diverse cities in the world. Mexico City holds many pleasant surprises for those who choose to vacation here. Mexico City should be on your “Must Visit” list if you are a fan of world-class museums, archaeological treasures, international cuisine, incredible shopping experiences, stately mansions, colonial neighbourhoods, dazzling nightlife, inviting plazas and gardens or great city parks. The National Museum of Anthropology is one on the world’s great museums, and could easily occupy a short vacation by itself. Mexico City, now the center of business, culture and government for the country, was once the
centre of the entire Aztec empire. Skyscrapers sit beside splendid examples of colonial architecture, archaeological sites share space with modern day structures and freeways lead to charming neighbourhoods’ of colonial buildings and peaceful plazas. Museums are around just about every corner and the rich heritage of Mexico’s colonial past is evident almost everywhere. There are many places, within Mexico City, to escape the fast pace of the city and where you will feel like you are in a different world within a few minutes time.
