Biography
Dr Papageorgiou is a consultant ophthalmic surgeon, specialized in pediatric ophthalmology, strabismus and neuroophthalmology at the University Hospital of Larissa Greece. She graduated from the Medical School of the Aristoteles University Thessaloniki Greece, and subsequently completed a PhD in Neuroscience-Neuroophthalmology at the University of Tuebingen, Germany, funded by a Marie-Curie EU-Programme. Dr Papageorgiou has completed her specialist training in Ophthalmology at the Centre for Ophthalmology, University of Tuebingen, and then completed a fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at the University of Leicester, UK. Her practice focuses on the management of primary, secondary and tertiary care of patients with strabismus and ocular motor disorders, as well as general paediatric ophthalmology. She is active in resident training and is also involved in student education. Her research focuses on amblyopia management, pediatric ocular imaging, driving with visual field deficits and ocular manifestations of neurological disease. In 2014 she became an Associate Editor, and in 2020 a Senior Editorial Board Member for BMC Ophthalmology.
